O my Luve's like a red, red rose
That's newly sprung in June;
O my Luve's like the melodie
That's sweetly play'd in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I:
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry:

Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun:
I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run.

And fare thee well, my only Luve
And fare thee well, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho' it were ten thousand mile.

Robert Burns

SI OUTLOUD: "HOW THE OTHER HALF LIVES"
A spoken word performance with music, inspired by Jacob Riis’ pioneering journalism.
Staten Island OutLOUD hosts this special event on How the Other Half Lives, the ground-breaking work by Jacob Riis, 19th century photo-journalist and social activist.  Riis was among the first to photograph life on the streets of NYC's Lower East Side, as many of our forebears came to the US to build new lives, and to help build the nation.
Music of the era performed live by special guests Elle La Forge, Rob Landsman & Rich Barbera.
Riis' book combined photography with a compelling narrative about the brutal challenges that hard-working people, especially new Americans, overcame to survive in New York City.
How the Other Half Lives helped to raise awareness of urban housing and public health issues.  Its publication helped to bring about reform in fire safety, fair housing, and child labor, among other important reforms.

From the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius, we are within the threshold of that change, an astrological territory which resembles strongly the configuration present in the 1960's and so suggests related revolutions in consciousness and society here on the surface of our Mother Earth. Freedom and the People's voice. France (Yellow Vests), UK (Extinction Rebellion), USA (the new Congressional powerhouses, the Sunrise Movement), the Venezuela communes... the list goes on.

Astrologers participating include ANTHONY HUNTER, MERRI AXINN, TAMARA WINDHAM, as well as other interested astrologer friends, all invited to participate in this conversation about our current adventure in this solar neighborhood.

S.I. DREAM ANALYSIS & INTERPRETATION GROUP w/ JESSE MILNE
Welcome to the Staten Island Dream Analysis & Interpretation Group!
   How does it work?
1. Someone shares their dream (you can bring printed copies of your dream but this is not required) while everyone else listens and takes notes if needed.
2. Next, everyone else can ask questions to clarify or further explore the details of the dream (e.g., How did you feel in the dream when __ happened?)
3. One at a time, each person (besides the dream sharer) offers their interpretation on the dream. For the interpretation, we use a first person perspective as if someone else's dream was yours. Example: "If this were my dream, it would mean..." Interpretations can point out overarching themes, potential meaning of small details, takeaways, etc.
4. After everyone (besides dream sharer) has shared their interpretations, one more round of additional comments from the dream interpreters may occur if any additional thoughts have come up.
5. Finally, the dream sharer can voice their final takeaways from the dream. What did people say that resonated with them? What didn't? Any revelations? After hearing everyone else's interpretation, what does that dream now mean to them?
Then, the cycle starts over so that someone else can share a new dream with the group.

***Community Guidelines***
- Sharing dreams can be very personal, and we therefore ask that what happens in the dream group stays in the dream group.
- We resolve to create a safer space for all attendees to feel respected and safe in sharing their own and interpreting others' dreams.  "

An exotic, mysterious little grandma has a very old handbag. If you open the clasp one way, you’ll look inside her purse and see her little handbag things.

But if you unclasp it another way, it opens to reveal an old European village with cobblestones, picturesque people, wishing wells, steeples, cats and dark forests.
Also, maybe an ex-husband...

JESSE'S DREAM GROUP ANALYSIS w/ JESSE MILNE

Two of the three founding members, ART DEKHAYSER on guitar and LES BAYER on 5-string banjo are joined by MARK FARRELL on mandolin, BILL CHRISTOPHERSEN on fiddle and ALLEN COHEN on upright bass, to recreate past triumphs and forge ahead with traditional style Bluegrass that sounds at home in the 21st century.

JULIE BENTSEN'S BOOK RELEASE

I'm excited to release my first solo book, "Post-its Saved My Soul", which is composed of visual art and poetry made over the course of 10 years using only office supplies.
Why office supplies? Because of my 10 year-long journey skulking through horrifying corporate office jobs, while using their post-its, pens, and software to create art on company time ;)
Doodling and scribbling poetry kept my heart and mind intact during the long hours spent inside a cubicle cage. Now that I've left that world behind, come out and celebrate with me! Celebrate that even in the most dehumanizing of times or places, we can still make art
The marvelous Justin Dubitibly shall be hosting!
Glorious poets will be poeting! (such as Thomas Fucaloro, John Snyder, and others)
Books shall be available for a suggested price of $10/book, and will be distributed by a host of angels descended from Heaven's middle-management team!

Hope to see you there :D

MUSIC: THE RESISTANCE COMPANY
The Resistance Company is a NY based band of activists, educators, & musicians that stand vigilantly for a better world. The system that we were born into is our greatest deterrent in terms of realizing our power as human beings. We confront those that oppose social justice, the environment, and the future of life itself. While we vote we also consider it the very least we can do to defend our future because our future is in our hands, not the hands of the politicians, corporations, or media that try to control us.

2pm AUTHOR: Marleen "Molly" Levi reads from her new children's book
"January and Friends"
"January called the Meeting of the Months to order. February was so excited that this was a leap year (only happens every 4 years) and she'd have 1 extra day bringing her to 29 vs. 28; closer to the 30 or 31 days like her sister months. But December was sad. "What's wrong?," asked January, the leader of the months. December told January she was tired of always being last and asked if she could change places. January had an idea and first changed places with December, but then excused herself to February, March, and April and changed places with June! Soon, the other months were all changing places. The cal-endars were all wrong and no one knew where the holidays were anymore. Where's the Easter Bunny? and Christmas? So much confusion! How will this be resolved?"

9-11 LIES THAT SABOTAGED THE U.S. CONSTITUTION
No theories, just science.
We will take a look at the new Grand Jury Petition (see below) and the newly released highly detailed 4-year physics analysis of the WTC building collapses.  It's time to wonder about high crimes that allowed the so-called "Patriot Act" to put an end to many of the constitutional protections our country used to be famous for.

"The terrible crimes of 9/11 have never been properly investigated. As a result, Truth and Justice have not been served, and the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights have been trampled under-foot.
The Lawyers’ Committee for 9/11 Inquiry, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation is legally fighting back in an attempt to redirect history and reclaim our individual and National sovereignty. This battle is for all Americans who want transparency and accountability in government... In April 2018 we submitted a 52-page Grand Jury Petition to the U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York with 57 Exhibits dispositive of pre-planted explosives, controlled demolition, bombs in the World Trade Center Towers responsible for their destruction."
Read the Petition here for the best understanding of
the evidence and legal arguments.

NY Public Library BOOK DISCUSSION led by Allison Nellis
"THE MAN CALLED OVE" by Frederik Backman

7:30 HEGAZY
Twin sisters Leila and Omnia Hegazy are a soul pop duo based out of Staten Island, NY. Their tracks brim with ethereal atmospherics, simmering B3 organ grooves, dirty rock n’ roll guitars, and infectious pop hooks. HEGAZY’s telepathic vocal interlace is a rarity, the twins weave in and out of phrases, swapping melodies and harmonies, and matching nuances like vibrato and embellishments with what can only be called a wonder of genetic precision.
HEGAZY’s lyrics are bold, playful, and insightful looks into the millennial mindset, post-college enlightenment, romance, and politics and race in the current landscape. Their songswould fit comfortably on playlists alongside artists such as Emily King, Gary Clark Jr., Lake Street Dive, Alabama Shakes, and St. Paul & The Broken Bones.

Masters of Folk: BOB CONROY, NORM PEDERSON, JEAN PEDERSON

The son of a New York Irish labor union organizer, Bob was a student of the legendary banjo virtuoso Eric Darling from whom he learned banjo and guitar. His repertoire displays a great love of Irish-American and maritime songs. He is one of the mainstays of the monthly sea shanty sing-along on Staten Island. Bob Conroy and Norm Pederson are committed to the preservation of traditional folk songs that illustrate the life, values, and work ethic of the American people. They have been performing traditional music since the folk revival of the 1960s, and they have appeared at folk festivals and clubs in the UK and Ireland, as well as in the American Roots series at Lincoln Center, Historic Richmond Town, The Noble Maritime Collection, Mystic Seaport Festival, and various other venues in the Northeast. Mr. Conroy plays five-string banjo, six-string guitar, and twelve-string guitar. Mr. Pederson plays multiple instruments, including fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and guitar. Jean Pederson, Norm’s wife, grew up in the folk revival. The Irish side of her family are noted singers and musicians in NYC and Washington, D.C. Jean and Norm wrote and performed the music for an off-off-Broadway play produced at the famed Café La Mama in the ’70s. Jean has written and performed Christian music for her own church for forty years.

QUAKER MEETING
All are welcome!
MEETING in 3rd room

STORE WILL BE CLOSED, and meeting will be happening back in the 3rd room.

Staten Island Meeting of Friends is an unprogrammed meeting. Traditional Quaker testimonies (e.g., that of God within or the "inner light," peace, and simplicity) are held dear, but there is no dogma and no professional clergy.

Meeting for Worship is not necessarily completely silent. Participants may be moved by the spirit to respectfully share vocal ministry. That includes you, even when it’s your first meeting; but please note that vocal ministry is not a sermon nor a debate, nor is it idle chatter. It’s only the concise expression of “that of God within.” It is customary for an individual to speak no more than once during a single Meeting for Worship.

For more info: Please see https://statenislandquakers.org/ or call or text the clerk at 917-617-4207 or email t.lochwyn (at) gmail.com

Please come and hear Helen’s four strategies that got her through those grueling days in New York City classrooms, where she taught “day school” for all ages—elementary through adults. Hear how she innovated her own program of instruction to enhance literacy through drawing. In her talk, she shares some of her drawing techniques from her memoir.
Within today’s revolving door of teaching, Helen forged a career as both an Exhibiting Painter and Educator. SMALL GIFTS…celebrates the soul of teaching as an artist.
