MOVIE:"GENERATION P"
Named for the Pepsi generation of Russians, whose only access to Western products was Pepsi cola, the film is directed, produced, and co-written by Russian-born, American raised filmmaker, Victor Ginzburg. Generation P is based on the book by the cult novelist Victor Pelevin and focuses on a poet named Babylen Tatarsky whose life dramatically changes when he goes from running a street kiosk to becoming a high-level advertizing executive who designs ad campaigns for Western products in the Russian market.
In attempting to better discover his creativity, Tatarsky uses drug induced hallucinations to channel the spirit of Che Guevara, and ultimately finds himself in the world of political advertising, working to elect what ends up being a “virtual President.”
Generation P took years to make, becoming an instant hit inside Russia, and earning distinctions and accolades at film festivals across North America. Now, the film debuts theatrically in LA and New York.
Russian with English subtitles. Presented by BORIS.

AUTHOR: FRANK ROMANO
BOOK: Love & Terror in Middle East 3rd edition
"The book is about the challenges of my work organizing interfaith events including dialogues with Christians, Jews, Muslims and people of all faiths in Israel and the West Bank. It chronicles my trips to Israel and the West Bank (4-5 times yearly from 2005 to the present), sometimes facing hostility and passing through a maze of walls and checkpoints in Israel and the West Bank to lead interfaith activities.
They are aimed at easing the region’s bloody path to peace. Sometimes the events lead to a spiritual catharsis in Israel and even in the midst of the contested refugee camps in the West Bank." |

BOOK: Storm Over Morocco
"It is a tragic quirk of fate when a peace-loving young man searching for a universal religion ends up instead being imprisoned by radical Muslims and fearing for his life. This is exactly the scenario Frank Romano faced thirty years ago and is the inspiration for Storm Over Morocco (World Audience Publishers, NYC), an enthralling account of this terrifying period in his life. After his escape, Romano uses his personal experiences as a means of organizing interfaith events with varied religions that included fundamentalist Muslims, Jews, and Christians in Israel and Palestine. MOVIE: "MY BROOKLYN" JAY WEICHUN presents this documentary about Director Kelly Anderson’s personal journey, as a Brooklyn “gentrifier,” to understand the forces reshaping her neighborhood along lines of race and class. The story begins when Anderson moves to Brooklyn in 1988, lured by cheap rents and bohemian culture. By Michael Bloomberg’s election as mayor in 2001, a massive speculative real estate boom is rapidly altering the neighborhoods she has come to call home. She watches as an explosion of luxury housing and chain store development spurs bitter conflict over who has a right to live in the city and to determine its future. While some people view these development patterns as ultimately revitalizing the city, to others, they are erasing the eclectic urban fabric, economic and racial diversity, creative alternative culture, and unique local economies that drew them to Brooklyn in the first place. It seems that no less than the city’s soul is at stake.
Is this the pre-quel to "MY STATEN ISLAND"?

KWANZAA CELEBRATIONS with "The Kwanzaa Lady!
Janet G. Robinson, better known as the Kwanzaa Lady, tells about the holidays that celebrate the heritage of Africans and African-Americans.
The name "Kwanzaa" comes from the Swahili phrase "matunda ya kwanzaa," which means "first fruits of the harvest."
There are 7 principles that correspond to the 7 days of Kwanzaa.
December 28th is the 3rd Day of Kwanzaa, honoring the 3rd principle, Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility). UJIMA teaches us that we must build the sustainable communities, societies and world we all want for ourselves and to pass on to the people yet to come. |
