ART PARTY: "They'll figure it out. Eventually. They must," OpenBookJen writes on Twitter. An exhibition is born. And an issue of ETG's Assembling Magazine. And an evening of multidisciplinary performance. View the art all month; read the words and experience the design on the zine's pages; tonight, see the cross-disciplinary collaboration on stage. Conceived and curated by Jill Jichetti.
"The idea of the show is that it will bring together an array of different artwork all inspired by or related to this quote: "They'll figure it out. Eventually. They must." Inspiration can also come from the rest of the sentence, bringing in the context of where the quote was found. (Twitter.) Or the idea of a screen names, etc. Some people might be more interested in the quote; some people might be more interested in making some kind of statement about cyberspace; some people might see the two ideas as connected. The art can be serious, humorous, sinister, sweet, ambiguous, or combinations thereof. I'm eager to juxtapose all the varied interpretations."
"Artists ofanydiscipline inspired by this theme(all of it, or part of it,takeoffs, tangents, etc.) are welcome to email me at jill @ jilljichetti.com or leave a comment. I'm looking for visual art, writing, music, dance, theater, performance art, puppetry, video..."

WBAI Listener sponsored radio 99.5 FM, part of the historic and revolutionary American PACIFICA network is bringing vital non-Corporate points of view to the public via radio. All WBAI programs stream live, and are achived for 6 weeks, at www.wbai.org.
We have been advised that these upcoming elections at WBAI are for 9 vacancies caused by annual rotation on the Local Station Board. These are advisory, supportive positions, they are NOT management or supervisory positions. The General Manager at WBAI is APPOINTED, not elected. These elections will elect 9 persons to represent LISTENERS. Simultaneously paid and volunteer staff are electing 3 persons to represent STAFF, and PRODUCERS/ PROGRAM ANCHORS ETC are electing another 3 persons to represent THEM
The folks we will be hearing from as Candidates, are FROM THE POOL OF 41 LISTENER CANDIDATES FOR 9 LISTENER ROTATING VACANCIES ON THE BOARD, the producers and the staff do their elections in-house, they do not need to go outside the station to meet voters; all the voters in their cases are "in-house"
Before the election forum, there will be OPEN-MIC-Style musical performances for an hour. |

MUSIC: TRISH AND CHRISTOPH in XMAS ON BORO HILL 3
Trish and Christoph will be performing as Victory Revolt with special guest mister Mark Davis. Christoph will temporarily slip into the role of his new found alter ego, Borough Hall adviser and confidence man Tony Tropicana, outlaying his personal vision of a total North Shore makeover. After the first political analysis, they will play some old songs and a brand new one, about a man from Rosebank with a very long hose.
You will also get a chance to buy our timeless Christmas CD and tacky Staten Island greeting cards.

COFFEE TASTING afternoon:
Sample our new coffee possibilities. Vote your favorite!
ETG Book Cafe is considering expanding our coffee selection for 2010. We are choosing something new, and this is where you come in. We will be having a free coffee tasting event on the afternoon of DEC 31st 2009, from 3pm to 6pm, where we will be giving away samples of the new Fair-Trade Organic "Origin" coffees that we are considering. The coffees are from worker-owned Organic farms in EL SALVADOR and in UGANDA. Also being tested is a new blend from various 0rganic fair-trade sources called RABBLE ROUSER. We want you to tell us which ones you like best. Your vote counts!
We are also sharing Organic Chocolate with you at the same time, as a sweet farewell to 2009.
