Reminds me of the Buckminster Fuller proofs back in the 1970s that humankind has everything it needs to choose Utopia for all humanity. Unfortunately "Wall Street" needs war to continue its controls, so therein lies the problem. This movie by the geniuses at the Venus Project "proposes an alternative vision of what the future can be if we apply what we already know in order to achieve a sustainable new world civilization. It calls for a straightforward redesign of our culture in which the age-old inadequacies of war, poverty, hunger, debt and unnecessary human suffering are viewed not only as avoidable, but as totally unacceptable. Anything less will result in a continuation of the same catalogue of problems inherent in today's world. Today many people believe what is needed is a higher sense of ethical standards and the enactment of international laws to assure a sustainable global society."

   From Wednesday, July 15 , trhu Friday, July 17, members of the community where Eric Garner lived and the larger Staten Island public are invited to visit WNYC's "TalkBox" to share their thoughts on Eric Garner’s death and its impact. These testimonials will be shared via Twitter from @WNYCTalkBox, and will play a significant role in WNYC’s news programming during the days leading up to the anniversary.
   TalkBox is a former New York City payphone that WNYC has repurposed as a tool to hear directly from the communities the station serves about a variety of issues affecting their lives.

   Talk Box is at Staten Island Arts in the ferry terminal Wednesday and Thursday 11-7. On Friday July 17th, Talk Box will be at ETG Book Cafe from noon til 9pm.

   “The city and the nation have been engaged in a critical examination of race and policing as events in New York, Ferguson, Cleveland, Baltimore, Charleston and elsewhere have prompted reflection, activism and government action,” said Jim Schachter, Vice President, News at WNYC. “WNYC’s job is to take stock of where we are and invite people across this region into the conversation about where we’re going. TalkBox will help us do that more effectively than ever before.”

    CSI Professor TYHIMBA JESS brings us three poetic and musical voices: GARY COPELAND LILLEY, CORNELIUS EADY & BAND; VIVEE FRANCIS.
   Cornelius Eady is an American writer focusing largely on matters of race and society, His poetry often centers on jazz and blues, family life, violence, and societal problems stemming from questions of race and class.
   Vievee Francis is one of those poets who is often described as ‘visionary.’ Her poetry is deep and rich and so strong, her voice in conversation is as complex, thoughtful, and passionate as it is in her poetry.
   Gary Copeland Lilley is a terrific poet whose poems sound like part Stradivarius, part blues saxophone, and part southern gospel singer--successfully blending virtuosic craftmanship, blues soul, and moral import--something quite unique
